Wipe !

Wipe! changes engines

Wipe! was made with Godot. On 18 October, it moved to Unity, and that same evening it was running on the iPhone.

Wipe! started out in Godot. On 18 October, I moved it over to Unity 6.

The first step was a test: rebuild the Common Room from the Godot export. It held up. So we kept going, in order:

  1. The simulation first, in pure C#, without Unity, with a bench that plays dungeons without showing anything. Combat doesn’t depend on the graphics, and that means it can be tested hundreds of times.
  2. The combat view: the Caves scenery, candles and torches that cast shadows, animated heroes.
  3. The screens: a home screen where Ténébrax wakes up in a video, then a calm loop; a selection screen where your hero breathes and turns under your finger.
  4. The iPhone: that same evening, the app was installed, in landscape.

And the little details you only notice when playing. Brunehilde wore a tabard, two flat panels, front and back. It looked like a loincloth. She doesn’t wear it anymore.

The Godot version still exists, archived. But Wipe! is now this one.
